it is the eve of the release of undoubtedly my most ambitious songs to date.
ACT II.
only a few hundred will read this before the release day. in two years time, many hundreds of thousands of beautiful souls will have heard a song from this record thanks to the marketing teams we have employed who have been remarkably respectful about my intense attitude about my art and my first independent music release on my terms with full creative and financial control.
fewer people will hear the whole body of work together.
the music videos are filmed from different cultural perspectives and in multiple countries. one music video will feature a metaphorical theatrical performance by me. the music press will reveal each music video for you step by step over the coming years starting with "With or Without You" on day ONE of release, Monday, July 6.
today, however, i am an absolute nervous wreck. on the eve of finally releasing these songs to the world, i have one last moment with them alone. just me and them and their messages to me. these songs are a soundscape carved from dream-pop interwoven with stories from my life. stories of my friends. stories of strangers i have met in the days and nights of my life, the forgotten ones. stories i have experienced myself.
a journey is taken on ACT II that is nerving still, even to me. i don't make music for your entertainment. i make music for your heart and soul to dance with. tragedy requires a dance partner, and my music invites you to be mine, for tragedy is but an ever-present ghost in our lives that we seem to run from. so even if you listen to this record just once in your lives, i am grateful that you allowed this sound into your heart and mind. and for those who take a longer journey with the record, i am grateful to you to. for my life is my art. my art is my life. see you down the road. love, daniel angelus xox

Daniel Angelus made a surprise appearance on ‘Inside the Music’ this week for Vigilantes Radio Music in the USA.
During the in-depth interview, Daniel revealed that ACT II is nearly finished.
Daniel also explained there are over 9 songs on ACT II compared to the 4 tracks on ACT I and one of these songs is a cover of a U2 song.
Daniel Angelus also revealed that this exciting new album will be released this year (2020) no earlier than summer and that some of the songs on ACT II were written as long ago as 2013 or earlier.
Daniel gave a very raw and rare radio interview and opened up about his life around music and the future to the host of the show, Dini.

2019 and beyond
hello, daniel here.
i thought i would make a final post in 2019 to share with you and give you the lowdown on what 2020 has in store for you and me. i am writing this at 3am in the morning after a very busy day, let alone last few months, so please apply patience to my writing this gobbly goop. the better stuff is at the bottom.
2019 was a weird year for me.
i released ‘act i’ in april to really good critical acclaim. it was a big departure from my release in 2018 and i took a risk that was warmly received by the press and the fans. i was delighted to say the least. i underestimated how anxious i would be about following up my 2018 album after ‘reflection’ took off worldwide. the record surpassed ‘wired for heartbreak’ and is my most listened to record so far. thank you so very much to every person who listened to the record. i am humbled, i am forever honoured. sincerely, thank you.
i tried to tour but due to my mental health taking a dive, because of personal challenges i had not expected or really considered for, i cancelled most of the plans and shows we had planned to focus on my health and personal life and worked on getting better again. mission accomplished on that means happy and healthy daniel has been back for a few months now.
tracy watt painted me and that was quite the honour to say the least. i still struggle to look at the painting because i dont feel worthy of it but i can say without doubt it is quite incredible in all the ways that words cannot fathom. thank you tracy.
i released 3 cover songs in 2019. this was really fun and i am grateful i got to do this. a really cool experience!
so what does 2020 mean for me?
well, i had a shakeup in august 2019 and act ii has been in production since then. i have recorded 8 songs so far with vocals and have around 20+ ready for vocals and lyric work. act ii is very different from the first act and will take the music in a huge, dynamic and beautiful new direction, as you can expect from me with every release. i dont sit in one genre, i do what i feel and work hard to make it an emotional and exciting audio experience. i am writing from a very personal perspective and not holding back at all. once the record is ready and finished we will give you a release date, looking to be 2020 at the moment, music videos will be made and as i hinted earlier, a proper return to live performances with songs from all of my records at each show is also in our planning. rehearsals have begun already for live shows including several new songs.
2020 also brings my first ever film soundtrack and with that is the long awards season. i can confirm the soundtrack will be released worldwide in over 60 stores for you all to enjoy and i will be a nervous wreck when all the nominees and winners are announced during the 2020/2021 film awards season. how exciting. pretty dreamy. and this experience is a childhood dream come true. thank you to sadie and the whole team on the ‘lights of dawn’ film for this grand opportunity. the soundtrack is finished and when the film is released these beautiful songs i made for the incredible film will be yours. have your tissues ready….
2020 is mine for the taking. its just sat there ready to be enjoyed. explored. experimented in. and i want to leave 2020 with act ii being my biggest selling/streamed/heard record and to be a multi-award-winning film composer. i know if i work my absolute hardest, harder than ever before and be the best person i can be and apply all of my determination and drive, goodwill and emotion, perseverance and positivity to these upcoming projects in 2020, i will achieve these goals and dreams i have set out. i know that hundreds of thousands of people around the world will get to see me, hear me and experience my music for the first time ever in 2020 and 2021. i could not be more grateful for the media and advertisers who pushed my music to new audiences in 2019 and still continue to throughout 2020 onwards. thank you.
more so, i could not possibly be living my childhood dreams now without the incredible support of the people who sat and listened to music in 60+ countries this year. to those who came out to see me sing. sorry i could not do more shows. come see me in 2020/21 please!. i am submissive to my music. its the only place, besides talking to nathan, my counsellor, where i feel truly at peace and explore all of my frailties and lay them bare to be heard. thank you for listening to my stores, my soundscapes and songs. i love you people. so much.
i leave you with three concepts for ACT II. this is the first time you will see what i look like for this record. we say goodbye to the angst and loneliness, the leather jackets and foppish hair. the lumberjack shirts…and we say hi to grief, obsession and heartbreak…..suits….no ties…and slick back hair. act 2 is coming….2020 is coming….and its ours for the taking.
THE LIGHTS OF DAWN - FILM SOUNDTRACK
The upcoming film The Lights of Dawn, starring prominent Spanish actor and model Cotton Filgaira in a deep and emotional story about a legendary American artist who is trapped between two worlds, was announced as in Pre-Production today and the addition of Daniel Angelus to the movies team was revealed.
Daniel has been working with the films production team and has recorded a full soundtrack for the film that is scheduled to release in mid to late 2020. Sadie Duarte, the multi award winning female director of the upcoming movie said “It's a pleasure for me to announce the awesome British songwriter/singer Daniel Angelus is the official music composer of my new film The Lights of Dawn. All the brilliant tracks are inspiring, dreamy and emotional and I'm sure spectators will feel the same when my movie starts the festival circuit. Thank you so much, Daniel, for your kindness and incredible talent. Welcome to my team!”.
The film, along with Daniel Angelus’ haunting and beautiful soundtrack will be revealed at numerous film festivals in 2020 and 2021 across the world and you will also be able to purchase or stream the soundtrack from over 60 online digital stores.
Daniel Angelus said on social media last week “I like the title of 'Multiple Film Festival Best Soundtrack Award Winner Daniel Angelus' - I actually envision it every night I fall asleep after writing this soundtrack - every single time I did that in my life, what I envisioned came true. Renowned and respected artist Tracy Watt has painted a powerful portrait of Daniel Angelus.
Tracy Watt says: This is a multi faced portrait of singer songwriter and gamer Daniel Angelus. In it I wanted to capture not only the various guises that a professional performer displayed to the outside spectators, but also his inner demons that he has struggled with. Daniel is an active mental health advocate. Here the serpent becomes the bodily manifestation of his angst. The chains that can tie him down. The other side is the public persona of the handsome idol. On the right Daniel looks upward and is serene with earphones capturing his creative productions that are so much part of who e is. I met Daniel on a beach quite randomly. As I am drawn to creatives I couldn't resist connecting with the tall dark guy, standing in the sea with a guitar. He was filming his new music video. The single is a refreshing and unique take on a-ha’s ‘Take On Me’ and is the 3rd cover released by Daniel in the past year. This is the first cover released in online stores with the previous two available for free on SoundCloud.
NEW PUBLISHING DEAL + TAKING ACTION
hey folks, daniel here again. i will keep this one short. i am putting this out into the world to help other artists who are doing it themselves from day one.
the con: in 2013 i signed a publishing deal before releasing any music. this deal cost us money and it came at the promise that my music could be featured in film and tv shows to build profit for my work and beyond it promised. this deal was terrible. it was a deal that has not served my music in any way whatsoever. it served the publisher greatly. i was a lot younger and there was a buzz surrounding my demos and it was humbling to get the chance to sign a deal for my music to reach better heights. my music deserves radio play, tv play and movie soundtracking.
roll on 6 years and my music has not been pitched to one brand, tv show or film company. its been sat in a limbo. to add to that, due to an internal server issue from my publisher i have sadly received no royalties for my album ‘wired for heartbreak’. this record contains my most popular song ‘reflection’. we estimate hundreds of dollars that are missing from our income that we are entitled too from 3 types of royalties alone for this song and hundreds of more dollars for the whole album in royalties. i will state that this did not impact ‘sales’ - we received all sales, just royalties.
the fix and the future: in 2019 i released ‘act I’ and it was released under this same publisher. however i had reached my patience threshold and was already looking at ways of finally fixing this issue. so i took a big step and i have parted ways with the publisher as of 2019, sadly this means that ‘act I’ had to be removed from a few stores and re-released with our new publisher. the new publishing deal has been well researched and recommended and we are very happy with the service they have offered us so far. we get to pitch the music to a media network ourselves my music is already being featured in a film due for release in 2020/21. the deal also means that i have been assured as an artist i will be entered for over 20 awards for best soundtrack. this is amazing. especially if we win one.
at the time of this post ‘act I’ has been removed from a few stores and will be back once the stores verify a few details. this does include spotify. its possible that spotify can block ‘act I’ on their platform due to us not being able to have two exact same albums in the same system. the decision is days away and hopefully spotify will stand behind the artist and allow us to rerelease the ep. (UPDATE: Spotify HAS decided to rerelease ACT I)
moving forward the new publisher is securing licenses for a cover song we are trying to release and one way or the other, my music is safe and ready to get what it deserves.
for artists who aren’t aware of the landscape, i suggest you work with distributors and publishers who are highly recommended by stores themselves. don’t fall for false promises and never accept a deal where you have to front your own money up front without making sure you get 100% of the royalties and sales.
the future is brighter than ever for my music. i am excited for the future. take on me.
ACT II - in production + film soundtrack (update from daniel)
hello everybody, after the bonkers and continuing success with ACT I that has humbled me beyond measure i want to update you all on where we are at as of september 2019. this year has been a tremendous year for challenges and i have faced the biggest challenges i have faced in recent years and i have been put through a lot. its been a tricky year so far and i really felt the world closing in on me and when i needed it most i found whatever i could inside of me with a little help to push on through. i had to make tough decisions to overcome these life challenges and i am feeling really good about the future and my ability to manage myself and i am proud i faced these overwhelming circumstances head on instead of quitting or running away and i have learnt a great deal about myself and what more i am capable of. i am still working on a lot of personal growth but that is going well with positive and genuinely selfless people around me. so…the music?
well i got back out and did some small shows to prepare for the long term and they went really well. i learnt a lot about my setlist and my songs in alive setting and i discovered what needs adding to my setlist to make these shows really powerful. more shows will be announced soon. and with ACT II i will be creating songs for a live setting for my show. i am excited about this. more on that below.
i have been asked to develop a film soundtrack for 2020 as well so this is also pretty mind blowing. i am very excited to be making music for a powerful film and i will reveal more on that in 2020.
ACT I has broken all our personal goals and gone beyond what we expected, this is down to some very talented and skilled individuals who helped us get our music out to a wider audience in the modern world and also some superb work on the two music videos that came from ACT I. i am so proud to be fueled and supported by exciting and creative individuals who genuinely care about my music and work hard to create art for these projects with me.
i can confidently announce that ACT II is in production. i have scores to settle on this part of the project and it will be a perfectly aimed arrow to the heart of those who gave up on me. it will be a strong response to those who cut and ran in my life. and i will do this with my head held high and the venues i perform in after release will feel the presence of these songs perfectly crafted for the live stage and more so, perfectly crafted for the concept that ACT II will bring. if you didn’t know by now i am a concept artist who writes different genres of music for each record to fit the narrative and style with the thread through all my albums being ME. so do your hair real pretty and put on your neon sunglasses….we are creating a really special record for the future past.
